In my life I love you more
When my trip to Recife was finally confirmed, I didn't really know what to expect. It would be the first step of a long journey of self-discovery – but, apart from that, it was a true dive into the unknown. Researching about the city and its traditions couldn’t possible prepare me for the adventure that was up ahead.
The city is, in fact, amazing. In almost every aspect. However, as I believe it always happens in trips like mine, you won’t get most amazed by the buildings, museums and beaches around. You’ll get most amazed by the people. By the singular way they make you feel. By how they show you there’s a lot more about the world than you used to believe there was.
Recife was all about that: people. From my home state. From other states. From different countries - Colombia, Bolivia, Israel, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Ireland, and beyond. Bringing forth not only different backgrounds and mindsets, but whole new ways of dealing with life.
Living with such a diversity of people led me to a severe reflection about my principles and standards. And that, ultimately, led to personal growth. Therefore, I’m immensely thankful to every single soul I met in Recife. From every shared beer at the beach to every late-night jam session, your personal views on topics like society, life, death, education, justice and happiness turned out very enriching to me.
As a way of showing my gratitude, I leave this message to you. “In My Life” is a Beatle’s song about the marks people can leave on each other’s lives when their paths cross. It accurately express the way I feel about you. For, as the song claims, I will never lose affection for people and things that went before. And, since you’ve been alongside me during the writing of a chapter of my life’s narrative – a remarkable one, I must say –, I love you more. I hope you enjoy it.
This video would never come to light if it wasn’t for my beloved friends. Vinícius Gama, thanks for helping out with the production, direction, shooting and edition (and, in general, for being an awesome guy). Guilherme Queiroz, thanks for lending your beautiful voice (backing vocals included) and unmatched charisma – and for your sexiness, too.
